say Hi to Halle...

Halle's first few years were spent in a black neighborhood where her fair complexion made her stand out, her mother moved them out of the inner-city to a mainly white suburb. This time, a little older and in this conservative setting, her difference was not so readily tolerated.

Halle first came into the spotlight at 17 when she won the Miss Teen All-American Pageant, representing the state of Ohio in 1985 and a year later in 1986 when she was the first runner-up in the Miss USA Pageant. Halle became a model and it finally led to her first TV series, 1989’s Living Dolls, here she soon gained a reputation for her on set tenacity. Sadly, the show lasted only three months, but Halle had caught the attention of director Spike Lee, and cast her in Jungle Fever.

The following year, she was cast as Eddie Murphy's love interest in Boomerang (1992). In 1994, Berry gained a youthful following for her performance as sexy secretary in The Flintstones (1994). She next had a highly publicized co-starring role with Jessica Lange in the adoption drama Losing Isaiah (1995). In 1998, she received critical success when she starred as a street smart young woman who takes up with a struggling politician in Warren Beatty's Bulworth (1998). The following year she won even greater acclaim for her role as actress Dorothy Dandridge in made-for-cable's Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (1999), for which she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Movie/Mini-Series. In 2000, she received box office success in X-Men (2000) in which she played Storm, a mutant who has the ability to control the weather. She also appeared at Swordfish where she agree on a sex scene and went topless. Next came Monster's Ball where she played the widow of executed criminal Puff Daddy.
After appearing in so many cinematic critiques of race relations in America, she was nominated in Oscar 2002. Along with Denzel Washington's win and a Special Oscar for Sidney Poitier, the ceremony was an absolute triumph for the black acting community.

Next she played Storm again in X-Men 2 and she also played Miranda Grey in Gothika, a prison psychiatrist who suffers a car crash and wakes up in prison, accused of murdering her husband and unable to remember a thing. Now came Catwoman, the beginning of a hoped-for franchise based on the success of Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns.
